Located at 3636 Georgia Hwy 11, Monroe, Georgia 30656. We offer tours, events, and host many beautiful weddings.

Public Tours:  Scheduled on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10:00am until 2:00pm. We invite the public to visit and enjoy a personalized tour of the homestead log house and grounds.


 Field Trips and Tour Options:  “A Day in the 19th Century” field trip includes a hayride and four teaching units that keep the students involved and interested. Tour the Antebellum Log House and Lifestyle, Medicinal Herb Garden, Candle-Making, and Food Preservation, Life of a Civil War Soldier, and Lessons on the Creek Indians.

“A Morning in the 19th Century”  offers a detailed tour featuring a walk-through of the log house, discussions and demonstrations of cloth production, open-hearth cooking, the cellar and living out of doors, the family cemetery, the Creek Indians, and the creek and spring area. A la carte additions available. 

Group Tours offer a largely self-guided tour, this allows the participants to explore the grounds at their own pace. A docent is available to discuss the history of the Harris family and basic 19th century life on a farm in rural Georgia.  A la carte additions available at additional cost.

Heritage Day Fundraiser and Barbeque:  An event held every few years, which combines the heritage of our ancestors with a unique opportunity to share in the preservation of this historical treasure. During Heritage Day, participants can tour the log house and the grounds as well as enjoy an array of festivities showcasing life in the 19th century. heritage Day – Remembering a Call to Arms was held on September 24, 2011.
